...i've had a couple of recent conversations with various discgolfers in our scene about the addition of another dg club in southern az....what baffles me is that some people are opposed to the idea of expansion....i'd like to hear  opinions  about  it....it's not like you can't belong to multiple clubs simultaneously (like myself)....i'm excited about all the cool stuff going on, restoration at the Cruz, Marana Rock coming up SO quickly....just awesome... who knows, maybe the city of Tucson( ) will see the good works going on in the city of Marana( ) and will be more susceptible to our future endeavors for other courses around the Tucson area....

Just a little information for those who might not know about the new Club that Pen wrote about...

The Marana Disc Golf Club (MDGC) was formed in December and was introduced to the TCL Board at the last TCL Club meeting. The MDGC was formed in part due to a suggestion by the Town of Marana Parks and Rec Dept. As Pen said, the Town of Marana has been 100% behind the Marana Rock Course and has spent thousands of dollars on building and improving the course; which includes the installation of the baskets, tee pads, and other various labor costs. The Town has added the course to its official Town website and was looking for local representation for their efforts. The MDGC was not created to compete with TCL, but to help grow the sport in southern Arizona, as Pen also stated. The Town of Marana has plans to create several more disc golf courses in the future and liked the idea of having a local club to tie its name to. Most members, including myself, are members of both clubs, and support them equally. I would hope there would be no animosity, and that all disc golfers would support the growth of the sport in any way possible.

MDGC info: annual membership is $5.00, which goes to the ace fund at Marana Rock DGC for Saturday morning doubles league. Please contact me or Chad M. regarding membership. Thanks for your support of disc golf in southern Arizona!

Noob...you really need to make doubles one of these days. I will make sure we team up so we can take the cash and maybe I will go ahead and hit the ace and I will kick some of that down to you as well. 8AM Sat mornings.

Sounds great, the more players/clubs, the more The City takes us seriously!

  I'll join. PM me.
 Can we "PM" here?

I am sorry that I do not recognize the name here, but let me know who you are and we usually just take it on Sat mornings at 8am during league. Let me know if that method does not work and we'll figure it out.
Thanks,
Chad M.

If you were as good as Matlock (honestly, how could anyone be that good  ) you would have discovered that he actually lives across the pond now, but he used to live here.

Doing better now thanks man. How have you been?

I wanna thank you again for bringing out your surveying equipment back in 2001 for the first and only Tucson Amateur Championships.
I've always wanted to bring that 1 day format back to World's Biggest Day. Golf, MTA and Distance seemed the easiest events to run and encourage Ams to want to learn/do more for Overall Events...  plus we all loved seeing how far we could throw. Grin
That was a really fun day and I can't believe we fit 45 holes of golf and the MTA and Distance into a Saturday in early May.

I'm in England still dealing with my kidney issues(looks up at the sky, smiles and points to Vince). I'm getting better but am still dealing with fatigue issues. It's the weirdest disease ever invented... doesn't hurt much but I'm soooo freakin tired a lotta times.

I'm coming over and will be at Groves the morning of Saturday, December 5th to play w/Mick & Kelly.
Hoping to trade some discs and see some old friends, hope to see you there Bro'.

No worries Steve. Good to hear from you. We played together a few times before I left for the Army in 2002.
